For sale today is the coveted 1869 "Rainbow" Legal Tender note. This is one of the most popular and collected series in all of US currency. Just a one year type, it is known as the rainbow because of the blue hue in the paper, green micro printing, and red seal / serial numbers. One of the most attractive series printed. Now over 150 years old!
This note grades Good in my opinion. Rough around the edges but still completely intact. Not much actual paper loss, the margins are kinda folded in. Someone with patience could straighten them out and repair the splits to make it look much nicer. All design elements still visible. Has numerous pinholes, an internal hole and splits. Please check scans and judge grade for yourself.
A lot of history in this note! They were true workhorses of the American economy just after the Civil War and through the Pioneer / Old West days and Industrial Revolution. So they tend to be rags when you find them. Imagine what this note all bought for people 150 years ago! And where it all traveled and has seen! Could have been in a gunslinger's pocket and seen saloons and poker tables. Could have seen the birth of industrial cities and railroads. It just fires the imagination! These are so highly sought after, even the low grade ones like this I have had in my watch list have been selling for 0! Grab this bargain while it is available! Rainbows are rarely affordable!
