    Description

These are boards I developed specifically for the Scientific Audio Electronics (SAE) D102 compact disc player.
The original boards, which are serial display processors, have been out of production since the late 80's.
The original boards were known to develop segment failures, which left end users staring at alien characters on the display.
The board I am offering is a recreation or clone of the original design using modern components.
This is a pin perfect replacement for the original 13 pin LTM8563 module.
The original display module was responsible for driving the four 7-Segment LED numerals, a single decimal point and five stand alone LED's on the control panel.
This module will mimic all of the display functions of the OEM module which includes driving the stand-alone LED's
Each module is assembled by hand and fully tested. This auction is for one (1) module.
This component requires soldering skills for replacement. It should be performed by qualified personnel only. Each board is fully tested after being assembled and once again before shipment.
Bear in mind the original 7-Segment LED's are no longer available. These new 7-Segment LED's are a few microns larger than the original LED's. The LED's illuminate Red. The internal black bezel of the D102 will need to be widened a minuscule amount with the aide of a nail file or by gently scraping with the edge of a X-Acto knife. Only a tiny amount of material will need to be removed, equivalent to 0.30 mm on the top and bottom of the rectangular opening (about the thickness of an ordinary envelope on each side).
Also, these boards utilize newer, surface mount LED modules, which utilize a different chemistry than the OEM devices of the 80's. The wavelength (red color) of the LED's is not the dark blood red found in vintage era equipment. This was the closest LED I could source that met the dimensional requirements of the SAE D102. This difference in color does not effect function. The end user can experiment with adding photographic filters cut to size to achieve a darker red color. Please note that in photos with the LED unit lit, the typical digital camera will not faithfully show differences in the red led spectrum.
I would normally sell this item for less through other channels. The price in this auction has been increased to offset the cost of transaction fees.
Any taxes you see at checkout are beyond my control. eBay automatically calculates and collects any sales tax. I never touch or see those funds.
The shipping rate shown above is applicable to the contiguous United States only.
I will not ship to P.O. Boxes.
I will only ship to the buyers registered Paypal address on file.
If you are in other regions of the world please message me and I will see if arrangements can be made.
