USS Montana Chaplain’s Office WWI Envelope Cardinal Patrick J Hayes New York.
Interesting envelope from World War II. Envelope is addressed from the USS Montana (ACR-13) Chaplain’s Office to Reverend Patrick Joseph Hayes at Saint Stephens Church address in New York City. I believe that places it from 1918. Reverend Hayes was the auxiliary bishop of New York from 1914 to 1917. He then served as the vicar Apostolic of Military from 1917 until 1919 and was in charge of recruiting priests for chaplain duty.
